Sr. Director, Network Engineering

Sr. Director, Network Engineering needed by DIRECTV, LLC in El Segundo, CA [and various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.; may work from home] to Manage and lead teams responsible for the engineering and operation of DIRECTV’s Engineering network. Oversee and lead architecture, system engineering, and operating elements of the network, including switching, routing, load balancing, proxies, firewalls, CDNs and Cloud DVR to achieve company and organization goals technically and financially. Support and lead architecture and system engineering for network infrastructure. Work as an expert in financial acumen for making strategic technical decisions. Provide exceptional organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities are necessary. Oversee the seamless and successful delivery of operation and engineering initiatives to production. Weigh technical decisions against financials to determine tradeoffs and make the most efficient decisions. Develop and drive opportunities to reduce cost while maintaining a high level of service to protect the customer experience. Organization and planning skills with ability to multi-task. Make data-driven decisions while establishing effective metrics that drive results. Manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Influence product and strategy decisions to build solutions and deliver right first time. Lead experimentation with technology proof of concepts in conjunction with vendors and other teams to evaluate new products, protocols, and standards with a cost benefit analysis to guide adoption and the pace of adoption. Ensure timelines and quality are held to the highest standards and establish processes for gate keeping and constant improvement with PIRs, retrospective, postmortem analysis, etc. Lead by displaying an unparalleled work ethic; coach and mentor those within their organization. Strong Communicator – with an ability to communicate in a direct and clear manner and a history of communication with C-level executives preferred. Oversee 20 direct reports:  One (1) Sr. Tech Dir. Network Engineering; One (1) Director, Network Engineering; Five (5) Principal, Network Engineer 1; Three (3) Principal, Network Engineer 2; One (1) Principal, Software Engineer 2; One (1) System Engineer 1; One (1) Director, Network Administration; Two (2) Principal, Network Administrator 2; Three (3) Network Administrator 2; One (1) Principal, Network Administrator 1; One (1) Principal, System Administrator 1.
