Director, Programmatic Marketplace Management

As Director of Programmatic Marketplace Management, you will be in a high visibility role that is responsible for maximizing DIRECTV’s programmatic revenue and the utilization of its inventory via biddable auctions. You will play a key part in measuring and optimizing the overall health of DIRECTV’s programmatic business, including analysis of revenue, supply and demand, auction win/loss rates & floor pricing. You will then use these data points to drive DIRECTV’s approach to monetization (both strategy and tactics) by working closely with account management, partnerships, product, ad operations, yield & analytics teams, along with external platform partners.

Here's what you’ll do:

Revenue & Programmatic Partner Management

  • Responsible for open marketplace & indirect private marketplace revenue.
  • Enable yield optimization strategy for all SSPs to ensure we are maximizing revenue while taking ad tech, competing campaign priorities, and supply/demand dynamics into consideration.
  • Evaluate and define performance standards, growth, and benchmarks metrics for partners; use analysis to provide quarterly feedback to vendors on their performance and areas they can improve upon.
  • Ensure every impression is eligible for programmatic demand: work with partnerships team to source demand as required.
  • Vet new technology platforms and capabilities; quantify revenue potential as well as risks (and how to overcome them); work with product & platforms teams to understand resource allocation against prioritized initiatives.
  • Support programmatic ad stack optimization, providing sale POV and requirements that ensures architecture and enhancements align to our goals and marketplace evolution.
  • Act as an escalation point for troubleshooting and optimizing our integrations cross functionally.
  • Provide analysis that drives programmatic strategy and create supporting documentation for leadership.
  • Serve as subject matter leader in programmatic ad tech – header bidding, SSPs, DSPs, DMPs, ad exchanges, ad networks, agency trading desks, and viewability/fraud providers.
  • Maintain technical expertise in continuously evolving programmatic space and to help educate on our technical abilities to other internal groups within DIRECTV.

Yield & Analytics

  • Create comprehensive, interactive reporting that is actionable on a weekly, monthly, quarterly basis: Total Revenue, SSPs, Deals, Advertisers, HoldCos, DSPs.
  • Analyze and distribute executive level reporting; highlight key benchmarks, closely monitor market trends, and progress against revenue targets.
  • Manage a team of Analysts responsible for the health of our programmatic revenue.
  • Act as liaison between product/ops to the larger programmatic and sales team, identifying the impacts of any updates, rollouts, partner tests with comprehensive reporting and analysis.
  • Identify and investigate day-to-day revenue fluctuations, anomalies, and inconsistencies to drive action.
  • Work closely with inventory team to identify under-utilized inventory (devices, networks, clusters) and create tactics to generate demand maximizing revenue.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of our bid signals across all supply platforms and endpoints.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Minimum 7+ years or relevant work experience in programmatic yield management, revenue operations, and/or ad operations for ad agency, publisher, or ad tech vendor.
  • Proven track record of growing revenue by forging strong relationship with platforms, understanding their objectives, and recommending best strategies.
  • Expertise in working with SSPs, DSPs, ad servers, and other optimization platforms.
  • Strong analytical and operations skills and the ability to distill complex insights into actionable next steps.
  • Expert experience with programmatic and digital ad serving systems, such as FreeWheel, Magnite, equivalent SSPs, or unified auction solutions (Publica).
  • Experience with BI, analytics, and yield management tools: Yield Analytics, Looker, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.
  • Understanding of the advanced advertising landscape in terms of how data is leveraged and linked within and across platforms for both targeting and measurement purposes.
  • Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent Excel skills.
  • Management Experience.
  • Experience with video/OTT/CTV highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

This is a New York City, NY, based position that works both in-office (2 days/week) and remotely. #LI-Remote

The Base Salary range displayed below reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position and work location(s) listed in the job posting US Labor Market Zone(s). Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

DIRECTV WAGE ZONE

N4: $140,875 - $211,255

Please note that the salary ranges reflect base salary only and do not include bonus or benefits - when you consider all of these together, it represents a pretty impressive total compensation package.
