Principal Platform Engineer – Data Quality & Change Management Engineer
Systems & Solution Architect Job ID: R250055 El Segundo, California Virtual, California JOIN THE PARTYThe DIRECTV Data Analytics and Operations Team is looking for a curious, talented highly motivated Data Quality & Change Management Engineer to drive data integrity, governance, and seamless change management processes in a cloud-native environment leveraging Snowflake, Databricks, and AWS.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in data quality frameworks, CI/CD automation, metadata management, and impact analysis, ensuring high-quality, governed data across the enterprise.
In this role, you will collaborate with data engineering, DevOps, governance, and business teams to implement best-in-class data validation, change control, and process automation strategies. You will have the autonomy to innovate and implement scalable solutions that enhance data reliability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
1. Data Quality Framework Implementation
- Design and implement data quality validation frameworks using tools like Great Expectations, Datafold, and custom Python-based solutions.
- Define data quality metrics, thresholds, and monitoring for proactive anomaly detection.
- Ensure data integrity and lineage tracking across Snowflake, Databricks, and AWS.
2. Change Management & Impact Analysis (25%)
- Establish governance-driven change management processes for schema, pipeline, and infrastructure updates.
- Perform impact analysis on data model and schema changes to mitigate risks to downstream systems.
- Maintain versioning and backward compatibility of data assets.
3. CI/CD Pipeline Optimization (20%)
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated data validation and deployment.
- Utilize tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Terraform to integrate infrastructure automation.
- Develop testing and rollback mechanisms for controlled deployments.
4. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement (15%)
- Work with data engineers, analysts, governance, and security teams to ensure alignment on data quality and compliance.
- Train teams on best practices for data validation, change management, and governance automation.
- Act as a key liaison between business and technical teams for data integrity initiatives.
5. Monitoring, Reporting & Continuous Improvement (10%)
- Implement real-time monitoring and alerting systems for data quality and deployment stability.
- Develop governance metrics and reports on data usage, quality trends, and operational efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize automation, validation, and governance processes.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in data quality, data governance, or change management roles within cloud-based environments.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, and AWS, including data quality validation and governance best practices.
- 5+ years of experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and DevOps automation.
- 3+ years of experience with metadata management and data lineage tracking using tools like Alation or Collibra.
- Advanced SQL and Python skills for data validation, automation, and testing.
- Strong knowledge of change management processes in data environments, including impact analysis and risk mitigation.
Preferred Certifications
- AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty
- Snowflake SnowPro Core Certification
- Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate
- Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert
- Certified Data Governance Professional (CDGP)
- ITIL 4 Foundation (Change Management & Incident Response)
Education
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field preferred.

The Base Salary range displayed below reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for each of DIRECTV's 4 (four) US Labor Market Zones. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
DIRECTV WAGE ZONES: $116,375 - $211,255
Low (N1): $116,375 - $174,515
Mid (N2): $122,500 - $183,700
High (N3): $134,750 - $202,070
Top (N4): $140,875 - $211,255
