Here's what you’ll do:

  • Lead technical engineering support for all aspects of regional DIRECTV Local Collection Facilities and coordinate/assist technical departments
  • Oversee the review and approval of MOP's
  • Travel as needed to Nielsen recognized TV DMA's (travel is usually in a company provided vehicle)
  • Perform RF signal surveys to FCC specifications and document findings, investigate interference issues as well as provide and implement resolution recommendations
  • Oversee inspection, validation and repair of baseband and SDI audio/video installations and drawings
  • Collaborate to simplify signal delivery and associated documentation
  • Troubleshoot video and audio impairments related to signal acquisition
  • Handle the fabrication and labeling of cables, install system devices and conduct general upkeep of LCF/LRF environment
  • Perform field pre-commissioning, commissioning, maintenance of MPEG compression and pre-decommissioning
  • Install baseband and IP multicast video transmission and multiplexing equipment
  • Assist in troubleshooting vendor owned connectivity up to and including optical transmission circuits
  • Handle any face to face communications involving technical issues with the engineering staff of local TV stations

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • A BS or AS degree in an Engineering discipline. Professional certifications will be considered in lieu of a technical degree requirement with a minimum of 5 years of technical experience in a television broadcast or cable system working on digital and analog broadcast & transmission systems, including RF, baseband, fiber, compression, networking and satellite
  • Proficiency in ATSC terrestrial RF systems and their various components, MPEG compression systems, IP multicast knowledge and Telco fiber systems
  • Proficiency in IP delivered Broadcast Quality Video signals and conversion processes
  • Proficiency in baseband audio/video, digital audio/video, satellite transmission systems, computer networking systems (Ethernet, Serial, TCP/IP and Video Over IP), electrical power systems (AC/DC) and telco/data co-location protocols
  • Strong knowledge of ATSC signal components, specifications and various ANSI/SMPTE protocols

Do you have what it takes?

  • You’re able to work independently in remote locations and may be required to work in the overnight maintenance window based on the needs of the company
  • You have strong oral, written communication and highly developed organizational skills
  • You have experience with Microsoft Office and can present findings in required reporting systems
  • You have extensive range in lifting/carrying and are able to remove and install technical equipment
  • You’re able to provide verification of a valid U.S. driver's license, favorable motor vehicle record when an annual MVR audit is pulled and are able to drive up to 8 hours in a single day
  • You’re able to work daytime and overnight in a maintenance support capacity and have the ability to work outdoors on tall buildings in adverse weather conditions
  • You have Normal Color Vision (due to working on the above systems and for safety of the Field Engineer)
  • You have hand/eye coordination, high manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude

This is a remote position that dispatches to several DIRECTV locations and requires the successful applicant to reside inside of his/her geographical region. #LI-Remote
