Tools Team - Senior Software Engineer

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Implement software to meet security, performance, scalability, reliability and maintainability requirements.
  • Participate in design discussions about new features and approaches to implementing new services and collaborate cross-functionality to analyze, develop and implement end to end solutions
  • Analyze and improve the life-cycle software development process (testing, building, deploying, monitoring)
  • Coach and guide developers through technical tasks and work with product managers to understand feature requirements
  • Plan short-term efforts and assist with the planning of medium and long-term efforts as well as multi-team projects
  • Utilize Agile and/or Scrum Methodology

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or a related technical discipline
  • Experience with programming languages ex. Java, NodeJS, Go, React, C++, Swift
  • Experience with software languages like JavaScript, NodeJS, Go, Java, Spring Boot, React, C++, Swift, container technologies like Docker/Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with building technologies like Jenkins/Spinnaker as well as monitoring and alerting tools like Prometheus/Grafana, AWS SaaS offerings

  • You’re able to work remotely and can operate autonomously in a rapidly changing, deadline driven environment
  • You have strong problem solving and analytical skills, including a qualitative and quantitative skills set
  • You have the ability to analyze complex issues and design appropriate solutions
  • You can manage heavy workloads, accommodate change and quickly adapt
  • You are an excellent communicator and can tailor your communication style to various audiences to achieve desired results

Our team develops, releases and supports the tools that our engineers use to make DIRECTV’s next generation linear TV product work. This platform includes many teams supporting the CICD platforms, collaboration tools and monitoring and control stack to enable a smoothly operating platform. As part of our group, you’ll work in a fast paced environment with a “work hard, play hard” team that collaborates cross-functionally with business teams to implement high quality solutions and deliver value to our customers.
