Job Description: Network Administrator – Professional

As a Network Administrator, qualified candidates will be responsible to maintain and support an enterprise network infrastructure in a 24x7x365 operational environment. This job will include but not limited to the following areas:

  • Event Management –Network events associated with infrastructure components
  • Fault Management related to Telecommunication lines & Facilities – Fiber and Electrical Interfaces OC-3, OC-192, 1G, 10G, 100G ▪ ISDN and 4G LTE o
  • Fault Management related to Network components ▪ Cisco Routers/Switches – IOS-XE, IOS-XR, and NXOS ▪ Cisco Firewalls – ASA and Firepower (Non-FTD) ▪ F5 Load Balancers – Viprion Series and Virtual Instances o
  • Fault Management related to Network Connectivity at the Core, Distribution, and Access layers o Alarm & Alert Correlation activity associated with Network Events ▪ Designated Monitoring tools provided by client o
  • Event Correlation activities due to multiple failures or cascaded faults

Incident Management – Severity and Priority Based Matrix o

  • Manage incidents caused as a result of network events o
  • Manage notification and escalations to service owners and leadership o
  • Coordinate the restoration of services and resources responsible for recovery efforts o
  • Maintain documentation to facilitate RCA efforts •

Change Management – Planned Outages o

  • Responsible for Service validation prior and after change window o
  • Participate in Maintenance Window to observe for anomalies as a result of change o
  • Prepare action plan to mitigate risks associated with planned maintenance o
  • Assist in recovery efforts and rollback plus validation post normalization efforts •

Problem Management – Chronic Faults and Root Cause Analysis o

  • Participate in root cause analysis o
  • Participate in follow up testing and collection of results in furtherance of RCA activities •

Administrative Tasks o

  • Daily management of the tasks in General Queue o
  • Escalation process to engage next level of support, 3rd level, 4th level, and/or vendor o
  • Inventory Management o
  • Audit Review of transactions and changes o
  • Participation in Daily Standup Calls – Day shift o
  • Provide Escalation support within the NOC for Junior staff members o
  • Maintain Documentation for Standard Operation Processes and Procedures o
  • Intake channels Automation, IM (Slack or Teams), xMatter, and/or 800#Dial-in

Qualified Candidate would have at least 5 to 7 years of experience in supporting large scale networks with multiple diverse and distributed facilities. Telco knowledge and understanding of circuit build out and delivery methodologies are a must. Other areas of experience relevant to support model is as follows:

1. Understanding of TCP/IP Concepts

2. Understanding of MPLS VPN Technologies

3. Understanding of IP Monitoring Features and Systems

4. Experience with Infrastructure supporting Live Video & Audio traffic

  • a. Satellite Broadcast
  • b. Over the Top Streaming

5. Understanding of Quality of Service Concepts in IP Networks

6. Knowledge of Multicast Technologies

7. Knowledge of Routing Protocols

8. Knowledge of Network Security Principles

9. Understanding of Encryption Technologies

10. Knowledge of Public Cloud Operators and their services (AWS and/or Azure)

11. Familiarity with Automation Tools and Scripting (Ansible, Python, Perl, PoSH, etc.)

Education and Certification: AS or BS in Related Field – Math, Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering

Vendor Certification – Cisco CCNA/NP R&S, SP, or Security

Salary Range

Our Professional-Network Administrator can earn between $70,100 - $140,200, depending on geographic location. Not to mention all of the other amazing rewards that working at DIRECTV offers.
