Role : Principal Systems Engineer – Application Delivery / Load Balancing

DIRECTV is looking for forward-thinking, innovative, and talented engineer to join us focused on application delivery & load balancing. This position will work in an agile organization,developing and supporting the video platforms used to power DIRECTV STREAM and Satellite
platform. Our video teams span the full-stack spectrum, including front-end, back-end and mobile app development. This platform includes many teams supporting the services, data processing, video processing, and advertising flows that makes the whole system work. The
candidate will be working on a high-visibility, fast paced team to work with other cross-functional business teams to implement high quality solutions and deliver value to our customers.

• Responsible for the architecture, planning and supporting of the F5 Application delivery and load balancing network infrastructure. Design work includes placement and specification of F5 LTM, GTM, APM, ASM and AFM modules.
• Develop and maintain policies, architectures, frameworks, roadmaps, and standards that deliver the strategic engineering goals, business priorities and comply with technical and industry/regulatory standards for area of interest.
• Create high- and low-level network planning, design, migration and leading project from start to end.
• Develop innovative infrastructure architectures and roadmaps that are fit for purpose and ensure cost effective delivery of strategy and business priorities.
• Assess emerging industry trends and anticipate and develop potential strategic technology/infrastructure solutions. Identify and evaluate new network technologies and services and work with vendors to perform POC LAB environment to provide recommendation and feedback
• Develop portfolio plans and ensure investment cases support network architectures and roadmaps. Identify areas of improvement of infrastructure and practices across the enterprise.

The successful candidate will be able to:

• Develop software and systems to meet performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability requirements.
• Participate in design discussions about new features and approaches to implementing new services
• Collaborate cross-functionally to analyze, develop, and implement end-to-end solutions.
• Analyze performance metrics to find trends and come up with recommendations
• Quickly build proof of concept demos to validate findings
• Present results and recommendations clearly and concisely
• Be familiar with software languages like Java, JavaScript, NodeJS, Go, Spring Boot, Python, Spark, React Native, container technologies like Docker/Kubernetes

Desired Experience:
• BA/BS degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• 10+ years' Architecture Experience designing & deploy Network Infrastructure Solutions
• Strong knowledge in F5 LTM, GTM, AFM and ASM features
• Strong Knowledge in DNS & DNS Architecture
• Strong Knowledge in Network Engineering Technologies ( Routing, Switching, ec )
• Strong knowledge in AWS Cloud based load balancing technologies : ELB, ALB etc.
• Strong knowledge of security standards

Experience with the following technologies are also desirable in the successfulcandidate:
• Streaming video technologies (HLS, DASH, CMAF)
• Cloud infrastructure and technologies (AWS, Azure, serverless technologies)
